On Friday the club were honoured with a visit from Olympian Sally Conway, a good friend of coach Elaine O'Connell.
Sally spent time on the mat with the junior session showing the kids some of her favourite moves. See pictures on the gallery.
On Friday a combined grading was held at Newent Judo Club where players from both Apollo and Newent were tested for their grades.

Newent had 8 judoka entered in the Gloucestershire Open which was held at Newent leisure Centre. The following players came away with medals, everyone who took part did the club proud.

Due to bad weather the barbeque scheduled for this weekend has been cancelled, it will now take place in September once everyone has finished taking holidays.
On Friday night(6/7), the general consensus was that due to the lovely weather (NOT) the BBQ should be postponed until september when it may be a bit drier!!!

Congratulations to Rhys Long for being selected as part of the Gloucestershire Boys Youth squad that won a Bronze medal at the Western Area Closed Team Championships. He fought in the -60kg weight group.
